Great Resource for Colorado Initiative 121 (Ballotpedia.org)

Not a lot has happened since the ballot language was approved.  I am still attempting to get information on where votes are being collected so that people can get involved.

I did stumble across a great resource for the ballot initiative for Colorado Ballot Issue 121.  Click here for the direct link.  It is from a web site called www.balletpedia.org .

ballotpedia.org

More info to come folks as I am able to get my hands on it.

  1. If this passes what do you think the poker rooms would spread for the lowest limit? 4/8? 5/10? Would they try to spread a $100 max bet per street no-limit game?

  2. Hey Ryan. I would certainly hope so, but it will really be left to the casino to determine the exact game structure. For instance, at the Harrah’s in New Orleans they have 5/10 no-limit, but only if there are 5 or more players that want to play at that stake. Colorado poker rooms still won’t be crazy busy, so I wonder how high of stakes we would actually see initially. Technically, they could have a 50/100 limit hold-em game, which would be fun. And to your point, in any no limit game they would have to cap each street at a max $100 bet with 3x re-raises (I think). So, a game of 2/5 would really play like true no-limit. I would love to hear from some dealers and what they have maybe heard from their bosses…

  3. Where can i put my john hancock? I would really like to sign the petition and i know i could get a ton of other people to sign it as well.

  4. Just some constructive criticism, the person running this website is not doing a very good job lately with updates. There have been some positive events that have taken place. 130,000 voter signatures were accepted and this will go on the November ballot as Amendment 50.

  5. Guys… any reliable polls that you’re aware of to see where we stand on the odds of getting this initiative passed by the people of Colorado??? I’m starting to get my hopes up…

  6. RickyB,

This Amendment 50 got double the amount of signatures required to put it on the ballot. There was a commercial on 850 KOA radio this morning asking voters to vote yes on Amendment 50. The Isle of Capri casino in Black Hawk has already purchased Craps and Roulette tables for their casino. This Amendment will pass.

The person running this website is doing a terrible job providing updates.

  7. Thx FG… the Isle of Capri news is defintiely encouraging & I have been waiting to hear ads for the initiative. Persinally I’ve been hearing mixed pubic opinion so far. I hope you’re right!

BTW, if it does pass, when does it actually go into effect? Jan 1?

  8. RickyB,

I don’t know when it would go into effect? Jan 1, sounds reasonable. Remember, once this passes, Black Hawk, Cripple Creek and Central City will have to hold their own elections afterwards. Individual casinos will be able to decide if they want to up their limits, extend hours, etc. Which is good for the Mom and Pop owned casinos that may not be able survive the new limits, hours, etc.

  10. I was up at Blackhawk earlier in the week & spoke to several casino employees about the logistics of implementation… got essentially the same story from everyone I spoke with.

As of the beginning of Oct, the polling shows Coloradoans favor the measure 55-28% - with the remainder stating they are undecided.

If the measure does pass on Nov 4, each of the three towns will have their own elections in the Spring which will specify the exact terms of what will be implemented in their cities (presumably $100 limits / 24Hr operation / new games in all cities.)

Once passed at the local level, the ramp up time looks to be several months for gaming control, city staff, etc, with actual implementation expected to be Jul 1, 2009.

  11. With 50% of the votes reported, it’s looking like approx a 59-41 lead for Amendment 50… good times!

  12. At 86% of votes reported, it’s still 59-41. Hopefully, by July 1, I won’t need to go out of state any more to gamble and win. Victory!!

  13. I know people get busy & keeping this website updated is most likely completely volunteer…. but c’mon!!!

This is arguably the biggest thing to ever happen to Colorado poker & there are no updates…. nothing since JULY????

If you turn this over to me, I will post DAILY updates, blogs, etc,,,, I would be HAPPY to…. seriously!

Thanks & drop me a line at rbennett215@yahoo.com…. otherwise I’m seriously considering starting my own site with updates.

Sincerely, thank you for starting the site… Ricky B

  14. I hope the person who started this website wasn’t kidnapped or worse by Stephanie Steinberg, the ANTI-SMOKING-IN-BARS-OR-CASINOS, ANTI-AMENDMENT50, ANTI-CASINO Nazi. But seriously, if you do start a new website Ricky, please post the link to it on this site. Cheers!
